Somatotype is a system used to classify the human body type according to their physic.

Following are the body types and their classification -


Ectomorph

  1. Ectomorph body types are generally lean and fragile with thin limbs.

  2. Psychologically more introverted and thoughtful.

  3. Having high calorie tolerance and basal metabolic rate.

  4. The power of muscle contraction is low but can sustain rapid contraction for longer duration of time as compare to Mesomorph and Endomorph

  5. Dominancy in various sports are Marathon runner, long distance running, swimming.


Mesomorph

  1. Having more muscular body, strong bones and connective tissues with moderate body fat.

  2. Having more active, more aggressive, dynamic personality.

  3. As compared to Endomorph and Ectomorph, they develop muscle easily and power of muscle contraction is very high.

  4. The power of muscle contraction is very high which helps them to practice many sports activity and helps them to achieve their goals very efficiently.

  5. Good in sports like sprinting, bodybuilding, power lifting, football.



Endomorph

  1. Rounded body with fatty belly, soft and heavy body.

  2. Muscle contraction is very powerful but cannot sustain for long duration.

  3. Having low muscles, high fat low calorie tolerance and slow basal metabolic rate, opposite as Ectomorph.

  4. Very relaxed in nature and extra extrovert personality.

  5. More dominant in sports like sumo wrestling, wrestling, football at defending end.

What if you are not having your desired body type?


The body type is not at all a genetic factor, sometimes lifestyle matters too. It is possible to change your body type by adapting some good training pattern and your diet method. Surely, it can take some time and you may not be changed fully but closely as you feel you did it.


For example, if the same person is taking good amount of nutrition, is free from any chronic diseases and is training with proper volume and overload intensity will surely get leaner and muscular physic. Whereas, if that person sits all day, consumes excessive calories and have junk food will surely become fatty.
